Hi Mr. Obama my name is Ashley i am i single parent im 18 and im currently working full time. I had my child the end of my jr year in high school and i did graduate on time with everyone else despite what everyone had said. I have been trying to go back to college but i have to keep putting it off because i will not be able to work full time go to school and take care of my daughter. I want so much for my daughter to grow up without anything to worry about. I can remember at the age of 13 wanting a job so i could help out my grandmother because i didnt want to see her struggling and working so hard just to take care of me and i dont want to put my daughter in the same situation. Even though i am a single parent i still have to take out over 48'000 dollars for 4 years of college. If you could please help me i would greatly appreciate it you can reach me by email at ashley_nevaeh2008@yahoo.com

I love what Obama is doing so far. Talk about taking on some serious issues! I am a 29 year old mom. My son is 16 months and I have just re-entered college to get my degree in Elem. Education. I currently have a GPA of 3.81 with two years of college done. My husband has been laid-off part time at his job at a steel factory and we have had to apply for food stamps as well as unemployment. I take night classes because we can't afford child care and I work part-time. I would greatly appreciate any information that might help me complete my degree and maybe help pay for college. My email is maya_surface@hotmail.com

Dear President Obama: I am a single mom whose life began late, family and school wise. In 1995 God blessed me with a second chance of having a child 20yrs after loosing my first. In return I swore that I was going to make something of myself and give my child a better life than what I was able to offer her, and returned to school to finish my degree. However do to the undesirability of my age, and the lack of funding I am finding it hard to obtain a job through the Board of Education as a counselor, which my degree is in. I am now looking to return to school to obtain a MSW in order to give myself a better chance of obtaining employment of helping families and children through counseling, as well as keeping my promise toward giving my child the life I had hoped to give her. I am already strugling to pay off School Loans accumilated and really could use help finacially for my extended education. Thank you for your time and concideration of my situation. Sky

I am happy to see Obama trying to help low-income Moms go back to school. That is exactly what we need. I am currently attending the University of Phoenix online and will owe thousands of dollars back at the end of my education. I had to take loans out from Wells Fargo to attend and I am a single mother of 3. I also work full-time as a receptionist. How would I apply so I will not have to pay all these loans back when I am finished with my education? I can be e-mailed at raregold1976@yahoo.com. Thanks!

I am a stay at home mother of thee children and my husband serves in the military. This grant is only for single mothers with is a good thing but there are married mother that would like to go back to school also. Just because we are married doesn't mean we can afford to go back to school without help with tution cost. The price for a higher education is getting outrageous. It cost to much. Some of the degree's people get will not have them making more money them what some of the soldiers make in the service. I think the grant should be for mother's that are married or single, but in need of the financial help. Married people barely get by themselves. Especially if they only have one income.

I am 57, work full-time for a law firm (23 years), have one daughter in college. I co-signed a loan for my son in 2001 and 2002; he attended school until his death (car accident in 2004). Since I cosigned on his loan, I/we "owed" roughly $36,000 to Wells Fargo. I negotiated with them for 6 months (which ruined my credit) and agreed to pay back $18,000 - which I had to borrow from my 401K and pay back in five years. I paid it back but it should never have happened. I'd like to go to finish my degree, have about 48 credits from the 70s, but could use financial help since I don't think I can work full-time and go to school full-time. Any help is greatly appreciated.
