We, the members of the Drake University Student Senate, in an effort to better fulfill our obligations as an elected representative body, have committed to upholding the diversity of interests and opinions of all students through the creation and expansion of the Unity Roundtable do hereby approve the following amendments to the Student Senate Bylaws. In the Drake University Student Senate 8 September 2011 ________________________________________________________________________________ MOTION SS [110908] A; (PN) Diversity Interest Senators Committee Appointment Bylaw Amendment

Whereas, Diversity Interest Senators are currently required to sit on the Student Fees Allocation Committee, Student Services Committee, and the Campus Advancement Committee, Whereas, the expansion of Unity Roundtable has moved from meeting once a month to twice a month in an effort to broaden and deepen the discussion of human interests and issues to not only multicultural student organizations but to all students in the Drake community, Whereas, the first meeting would specifically address multicultural organizations and the second would foster a safe and open forum to be open for all students, including those not permitted to attend previously, to hear about Student Senate motions, discussions and other community initiatives related to diversity, Whereas, it is the mission of Drake University to prepare students for meaningful personal lives and to instill responsible global citizenship in its students, Whereas, this expansion of the Unity Roundtable more completely aligns the goals and mission of the Diversity Interest Senators than current requirements do in the Student Senate bylaws, Now, therefore, be it
Moved. That, (1) The following be modified and added in the Student Senate Bylaws: XII.2. Campus Advancement Committee (CAC) XII.2.2. XII.2.2.1. The committee shall be chaired by the Campus Advancement Committee Chair and shall consist of ten members. Nine students

XII.7. Student Fees Allocation Committee (SFAC) XII.7.6. XII.7.6.1. The committee shall be chaired by the Student Body Treasurer and shall consist of eight members. Eight students. Any student (except elected members of the Student Senate) shall be ineligible to serve on this committee while serving as chair, editor, or executive committee member of organizations receiving student funds or serving in positions which is compensated with Student Activity Fees.

XII.8. Student Services Committee (SSC) XII.8.2. The Student Services Committee shall be chaired by the Student Services Committee Chair and shall consist of nine members. Nine Students
