CLASS DISCUSSION What is common among these three young people? What do you think gave the young heroes the courage and strength to help others? As a Christian, how can you gather enough courage and strength to help others?
Jesus promised us a special Helper, the Holy Spirit. God the Holy Spirit is the Third Person of the Bless Trinity. The Holy Spirit gives us the courage and strength to help others.
How did the Holy Spirit help the apostles? They became courageous, eloquent and zealous in proclaiming the Good News to everyone. The apostles were given wisdom, courage, understanding, right judgment, knowledge, piety and wonder and awe of the Lord.
The Sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of the baptismal grace. Through Confirmation, the baptized is bound to the Church and are enriched with the strength of the Holy Spirit. (CFC 1285)
Like Baptism, Confirmation imprints on the soul an indelible spiritual mark and so like, Baptism it can never be repeated.
Two essential characteristics of Confirmation: Closer union with the Church. Strengthening and empowerment by the Holy Spirit to actively spread the faith. (CFC 1626)
