Introduction In any SAP system design there are 4 layers of Server:Development System Here all development, configuration is first

t done and tested effectively. This system is only available for SAP consultants.

Quality System Configurations done from the development system are transported here. All unit testing, integration testing is done by the users here. The status of the client is non modifiable. That means no configuration is directly possible in this system. The system is available for both SAP consultants and all users to do their testing Training System (optional) Configurations done from the development system are transported here. This system is available exclusively for training purposes to the users. The status of the client is non modifiable. That means no configuration is directly possible in this system.

Production System This is the system where actual transactions are performed by the business and is only available for authorized users to perform their respective transactions. The status of the Production client is non modifiable. All the configurations after proper testing in the Quality system by the users are finally transported to the Production system.

Releasing the Transport Request:-

Transaction code: SE10 (Customizing Organizer)

Now they are ready to be transported to the other clients in the development system and the quality system

STMS- SAP transport management system You transport the request from this transaction code.

Import Overview

Double click on Click on to see your transport request appears:to scroll down.

The requests usually appear at the bottom, use Select all the 3 lines in the development system

Position the cursor on ur request number the next 2 lines

The status 0 and 4 means the transport went through ok but there is an issue to look at. In Quality system and in Production system 4 is not normal and should be looked at. If status is 8 means transport failed.

Come back to the main screen Click

Repeat for Quality system Since quality system has 4 clients you will see 4 lines

Select all of them and import

You will be doing a remote logon into Quality system 528 if you run STMS from development system. Ensure that you first have a user id in the system. It is also possible to directly use STMS transaction code in Quality system to import the requests into quality system. The import directly from Quality system is generally faster than transporting from development system.

Similarly also transport to the Production system Generally transport to the Production system should be scheduled for an overnight import so that operations are not affected. But you can do an urgent transport into production system during the day on case by case basis.
