Just Jumpin, a competitive and demonstrative jump rope team, will perform at Draper Elementary on Wednesday, Nov. 2. The team is sponsored by LiVe, an Intermountain Healthcare fitness and health program. The team will perform fun jump rope routines and teach the kids new jump rope skills. They will also be selling jump ropes to students that day. Every jump rope purchased gives our school $1 back toward the cost of the assembly. Parents may also want to consider purchasing a jump rope for the childs classroom. Jump ropes range in price from $7 to $9.

Art Through the Ages to Focus on Expressionism

Novembers Art Through the Ages (ATTA) lesson will focus on Expressionism from 1905-1930. Volunteer training is Nov. 2 at 9 a.m. The history lesson of the art period will be taught Nov. 7-11. We will study WWI, the conflict, have an actual war and then try to figure out world peace. The art project asks the questions: If music can make you feel something, then why not art too? Can art make you have feelings? The art project (3D art: Chagall and Matisse) will be taught Nov. 14-18. We are always looking for more volunteers to help. If you are interested please contact your room parent or classroom teacher. A special thanks to the many volunteers required to make this program such a great success each month.

Principals Message
November brings a time in the year when everyone is reminded to give thanks for all we have. As I drove to work this morning I couldnt help but appreciate the beautiful valley we live in as I saw the sun beginning to edge into the sky from the east. My thoughts drifted to the wonderful opportunity I have to work daily with dedicated professionals who deeply care about their students. The students at Draper continue to amaze me on a daily basis. These young children have hearts of gold and true compassion for others. They share their gifts of intelligence while solving simple to complex problems. I am thankful that you, as parents, share your special gift of children with us. I have been in several classrooms recently and the students are actively involved and appear to be moving along with their academics. I enjoy hearing the class discussions and how involved the students become with what they are learning. Thank you teachers and students! Conferences will take place the first week of November. Please come celebrate the progress your children are making in school. Come prepared with questions. It is always helpful when parents share unique traits with the teachers allowing a positive relationship and continued academic and social progress. The relationship between school and home is vital to a childs success in school. Thank you to our superior PTA Board and all parent volunteers. What a pleasure to have so many parents who promote a strong parental involvement at our school. Our first annual Parent Education Night was wonderful and those who came learned a lot. -Ms. Kenna Sorensen, Principal
