ENGLISH in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE (EMS) MATH ACTIVITY Activity Objective : : CREATING MODELS OF 3D SOLIDS Students will be able

to create models of three dimensional solids using their imagination and creativity as well to measure the volumes and surface areas of the solids. Communication, Creativity, Cooperation, Imaginative Cardboards, Manila Cards, Scissors, Self-adhesive tape, Marker Pens, A4 Papers, Water Colours 1. Students use the items given to create a 3D model in groups. 2. Students use water colours to paint their models. 3. Students measure the lengths, widths and heights of the models created and write the measurements on a worksheet. 4. Students calculate the surface area and volumes of the models and write the solutions and answers on the same worksheet. 5. Students write their answers on manila cards by drawing the model with its measurements of lengths, widths and heights, and by writing the sums to find surface area and volume of the model created. 6. Students do a short presentation on the findings of the activity. 7. Marks will be awarded on the creativity of model creation, the accuracy of the measurements, solutions and answers, as well as the effectiveness of the presentation.

SCIENCE ACTIVITY Activity Objective : : BUILDING A SKYSCRAPER Students will be able to build a model skyscraper and determine the strength and stability of the models so as to promote the building to their clients. Interpersonal, Teamwork, Innovative, Role-play Straws, Self-adhesive tape, Scissors, Manila Cards, Marker Pens 1. Students create a name (a company name) for their respective groups. 2. Students use items given to build a model tower (as their companys output), in groups. 3. Students determine the strengths and stability of their models. 4. Students create a promotional poster complete with the picture of the model, and information on its strength and stability using manila cards and marker pens. 5. Students do a short presentation on the models created so as to persuade their clients (in this context, judges) to approve their companys output. 6. Marks will be given for presentation style and content, as well as creativity of model creation.

STUDENTS TALENT QUEST INDIVIDUAL Activity Objective : Individual Singing Competition : Students would be able to enhance their presentation skills as well as to boost their self-confidence. This activity also enables students to improve their pronunciation, stress and intonation in the English Language. : Self-confidence, Musical, Interpersonal : Mic, Speakers, PA System : 1. All students are encouraged to participate in this competition. 2. Students are allowed to sing any song of their choice, individually. 3. The selection of songs should be decent. 4. Students, who are interested to join the competition give their names to the teacher-in-charge. 5. Students are given 1 whole day for rehearsals.

GROUP Activity Objectives : Nursery Rhymes Role-play Competition : Students would be able to interpret the meaning of a nursery rhyme and role play the rhyme as interesting as possible. This activity enables students to get to know a few of the famous nursery rhymes and to sing them in groups together with actions. : Creativity, Collaboration, Role-playing, Kinaesthetic : Properties for presentation (according to each groups needs) : 1. Group leaders draw lots and get the title of their nursery rhymes. 2. Groups receive the lyrics and tunes of their rhymes. 3. Students memorise the rhyme in their respective groups. 4. Students create actions to complement the lyrics of their rhymes in a fun way. 5. Students discuss and list out the props needed to enhance their presentation afterward. 6. Students are given the whole day to prepare for the competition. 7. Points will be given according to the clarity, properties, and presentation style of their group performances.
