We are a not-for-profit organisation that has been providing business support since 2001. During 2010/11 we delivered 777k of grants in SE (inc. 476k for farm & rural businesses). Sustainable development is our main focus. We are currently involved in partnerships in 10 EU countries.

Our role with the WF-WIG


The facilitation and administration of WF-WIG in: South East Region South West Region Cumbria Our involvement starts with receipt of your application and ends with appraisal of your grant claim. We will support you with the process BUT we arent FC Woodland Officers.

Pre-application eligibility advice Processing of applications in accordance with the Citizens Charter (11 weeks from receipt of a properly completed
application to offer of grant [where appropriate])

Total pot of 3 million in SE Short period for applications to October 2013 Timber fund and Roads fund Axis 1 funding imposes conditions:
Must have three quotes Actual costs (Receipted invoices) Grant rate of 60% Grant amount de minimis

What will WF-WIG support?


The overall aim is to support the sustainable production of wood-fuel & other timber products Timber fund prep. for harvesting:
Woodland inventory work Managing harvesting contracts

Roads fund access infrastructure


Haulage roads; forwarder roads/tracks Stacking/loading/turning areas Bellmouth access to highways

Eligibility issues...
Some common to both:
RLR Approved up to date management plan (inc. Table 10A) De minimis Necessary permissions Must result in timber harvesting

Eligibility for Timber fund...


Woodland/compartment under-managed (i.e. has missed 2 thinnings) Payment is based on standard costs Supports preparation of wood for sale and managing subsequent harvesting.

Eligibility for Roads fund...


Management plan must support the need for proposed infrastructure Scheme must last 20+ years (FC roading guidelines
- ON25)

Based on 3 quotes Grant must be matched with timber harvested (1 tonne per 50 grant) Grant paid on actual costs

Myths and misconceptions...


Doesnt need to be under-managed for Roads grants There doesnt have to be an increase in timber output can just be more efficient. Agents supervision and engineers design fees can be included Dont have to take cheapest quote Value of timber arising is not taken into account.
