DISCOVERY SCHOOL COURSE
DISCOVERING YOUR PURPOSE
INTRODUCTION
GOD is a God of purpose. Everything He does, no matter where, when or how, Hedoes for a reason.Everything that God has ever created, He created with a purpose, and for a purpose.
“Purpose Precedes Creation”
Everything in life “begins” and “ends” with purpose. God is a purpose driven God.Therefore as a believer, you must be purpose driven in all that you do in life. God’swill for you is to live and breadth purpose.Purpose is the only thing that gives meaning to life, and makes you relevant to thispresent generation, and the generations after.
MYLES MUNROE
in his book “In Pursuit Of purpose” says, that
, “the greatest tragedy in life is not death, but life without a reason (purpose). It is dangerous to bealive and not know the reason you are given life”
. One of the most frustratingexperiences is to have time but not know why.
WHAT IS PURPOSE?
Purpose can be defined as:i.

the original intent of the creation of a thing,ii.

the original reason fro the creation of a thing, iii.

the end for which the means exist,iv.

the cause for the creation of thing,

v.

the desired result that initiates production,vi.

the need that makes a manufacturer produce a specific product, vii.

the destination that prompted the journey, viii.

the aspiration for the inspiration andix.

the object one wills or resolves to have..Purpose therefore in a more personal context can be defined, as, the original intent inthe mind of God, that prompted Him to create you.
CREATED FOR AND WITH A PURPOSETEXT GEN 1: 26
God created you with and for a purpose. There was a problem that God wantedsolved that prompted Him to create you!The purpose for your existence was determined by God long before you were borninto this world. Jeremiah 1: 5, Rom 8: 29 – 30.
CALLED/SAVED FOR A PURPOSERom 8:28
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to HIS PURPOSE”
It is important for you to know that God created you to be a
 player
and not a
spectator
in the affairs of life.
“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sinwhich doth so easily beset us, and LET US RUN with patienceTHE RACE that is set before us”.
Hebrews 12:1QUESTION:
Is a runner a spectator or a player?

Players are assets, spectators are liabilities.

“Players are for prizes, while spectators are for fun”
Myles Munroe:
“There are three groups of people that walk the face of the earth today
:
i.

Those who makes things happen;ii.

Those who watch things happen and
iii.

Those who have no idea what is happening
.“You cannot just sit down and watch things happening. You are createdto make something happen – something unique and special”.
Your existence is the evidence that this generationneeds something that your life contains
THE MANUFACTURER AND HIS PRODUCT
The person responsible for the creation or the existence of a thing is called “TheManufacturer”, while that thing itself is called “The product”.The word
“Manufacturer”
is a compound word made up of two words:
 MANU:
which means
Manual”

 FACTURER
: which means
“Maker”
When a manufacturer makes his product, he produces a manual, which will help usersof his product to understand the purpose of that product, and how it was designed tofulfil that purpose. The manual gives you a fore-knowledge on the specific functionof the various parts in that product.i.e. A car has consists of various parts, which possess their own specific function thatcontribute to the fulfilment of its purpose.
