Timing Introduction: 5 mins Activity: 1015 mins Feedback: 510 mins Writing definitions: 1520 mins

Suggested procedures A Brainstorm computer vocabulary with the class and write all the words on the board. Check understanding by pointing to random words and choosing a student to give a definition. If any of the words from the target vocabulary are missing from your list, teach them to the students and write them on the board, too. B Now divide the class into small groups and give each group a copy of the worksheet. Their task is to fit all the words they have learned into suitable categories. Some of the words may fit into more than one category, which should prompt further discussion. C After each group has put each word into a category, clean the board and draw a large copy of the worksheet table on it. Have the whole class debate where each word should go. Rewrite the words in the correct column / s. D Now allocate a couple of words from each category to each group and have them write definitions of each, using relative clauses where appropriate. Circulate and answer any questions groups may have during this part of the activity, but dont make corrections at this stage. E When the definitions have been written, have group members read them out the rest of the class. Encourage the whole class to offer corrections or modifications wherever necessary, until everyone is agreed that the definition fits the word.
