Students’ Needs: Students need to be familiar with the preceding stages of the writing process,
prewriting and drafting. For the introduction of VoiceThread, students will need to be familiar with
computer use and have access to internet. To bridge knowledge gaps, students will be paired with other
students that are in their ZPD for scaffolding.

Language Function: Students will analyze peer writing and give feedback to their peers. After
evaluating their peers’ work, students will explain their feedback in order to justify changes they think
should be made. They will use VoiceThread as a medium to carry out this assignment. When the
feedback stage is completed, students will interpret their feedback received and synthesize new ways to
develop their pieces of writing.

-Students ask clarifying questions.
During:
-Teacher and students work the VoiceThread program together.
-Each student uploads the science paper they are currently working on.
-Teacher divides students into groups of three.
-Each group collaboratively revises and edits 3 of the science papers together that were not their own.
-Students talk about their feedback and corrections, justifying them to each other and explaining why.
-Teacher circulates around the room facilitating the learning experience and helping students when
