☐ Teacher-led: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations. Learning activities are assigned to the student and mostly
practice based.

☒ Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic of
learning and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. The teacher facilitates
the learning as the students direct their own learning processes.

☐ Problem-based and/or Publishable: Students are solving problems and completing projects to
demonstrate their learning. Additionally, the projects can be shared outside of the classroom.

Lesson idea implementation:
Students will be introduced to this tool by the opening of the lesson being a podcast. The students
will then be made aware of their goals because they will be posted on the board. Students will utilize
this technology because they will be using it to create their very own podcast. The teacher will walk
around and look at each of the student's books as well as ensure that they understand how to use
the technology. Feedback will be provided as the teacher walks around and views their work. The
lesson will be concluded with a recap of what was learned as well as allowing the students time for
any questions they may have.
Managing student learning: Students will be allowed to use their own fiction book of choice to create their
podcast. This will allow them to have freedom and choice. Students will use the Ask 3 then me method to
ensure they are able to work together and share ideas.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Reflection: Be sure to mention one specific UDL principle you
are focused on in this lesson – Multiple Means of Engagement, Multiple Means of Representation,
or Multiple Means of Action & Expression.
I believe this lesson and technology supports all students because they are able to use their own
book of choice. This allows for students who may be more advanced or a little behind to be able to
use a book that they are comfortable with to ensure that they fully understand the standard. The
students will also be thoroughly engaged with this lesson because this will be their first time creating
a podcast and using Spotify for Podcasters.
Reflection:
I believe that this lesson will greatly impact student learning in a positive way. It will impact student
learning in a positive way by allowing students to be engaged and show their knowledge in a way
that is different than just a handwritten test or a class discussion. This will allow students to use their
creativity and they will be able to enjoy getting two show their knowledge. I look forward to
implementing podcasts in my future classroom because i am excited to see how my students show
their creativity.
