Selected Instructional Software Tool: Anchor by Spotify

Description of Software: Anchor is a podcasting tool that helps students create podcasts without
any trouble. This tool is used to do search, build, and publish. Students can do podcast for free and it
is a very safe tool for students to use while maintaining their privacy. Anchor has options of
recording audios and adding music, titles, art, and descriptions to make the podcasts look
professional. This tool is very helpful to students but also for teachers.

How do you plan to implement this lesson and integrate the technology? Check all that apply:

☐ Teacher-led: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations. Learning activities are assigned to the student and mostly
practice based.

☒ Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic of
learning and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. The teacher facilitates
the learning as the students direct their own learning processes.

☒ Problem-based and/or Publishable: Students are solving problems and completing projects to
demonstrate their learning. Additionally, the projects can be shared outside of the classroom.
(Note: This objective could be reached by displaying the project on the school’s morning
newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, presenting it to another class, or publishing

Lesson idea implementation:
Students have discovered items and organisms that are living and non-living. They will use what they
research to communicate to their peers through a podcast episode done in groups. Students will
create their own podcast using the tool Anchor by Spotify where they will talk about the information
they have discovered when researching. Students will use their tablets or classroom computers to do
the podcast. Teacher will help students prepare their podcast by guiding them throughout their
research and recordings. Students will present their podcast to the class and teacher will provide
feedback after presentation to finish the lesson.
Managing student learning: Anchor by Spotify will help student shift to social learner by doing
research and creating their own podcast in groups. Students will be able to show their creativity and
make an episode that will show their teacher what they have learned. Students will be very engaged
doing a podcast, and everyone can participate. Teacher will give students time to work on their
podcast. Therefore, Students will be required to write their script first before recording their
podcast.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Reflection: This lesson helps students get engaged and be active
according to the UDL terms. They have a choice on how to present their podcast and how they want it to look
like. Students doing research to investigate and searching for music or picture is considered engaging in the
activity. Students learn better when they are in charge of their own learning.

Reflection: I feel like this lesson will help students be independent and research for their own
learning. Students work hard to develop a podcast that they can later review and use to their own
advantage. This lesson makes the activities fun for students because they get to use their own
creativity and watch their other classmates podcast as well.
