How do you plan to implement this lesson and integrate the technology? Check all that apply:
☐ Teacher-led: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations. Learning activities are assigned to the student and mostly
practice based.
☒ Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic of
learning and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. The teacher facilitates
the learning as the students direct their own learning processes.
☒ Problem-based and/or Publishable: Students are solving problems and completing projects to
demonstrate their learning. Additionally, the projects can be shared outside of the classroom.
(Note: This objective could be reached by displaying the project on the school’s morning
newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, presenting it to another class, or publishing it
via an outside source.)
Lesson idea implementation:
Once we transition to science, we will listen to the podcast I made. Just in case anyone didn’t get the
chance to listen at home. After, I logged on to Spotify for Podcasters and gave them a quick overview.
I will show them how to record, how to add sound effects, and all other features they may use. We
will talk about the podcast they will make and their goals. I will answer any questions to ensure all my
students understand what is expected of them. We will talk about our 4 types of extreme weather. My
students will get a choice of which type of extreme weather they want to become an expert on. We
will break off into groups and research using PebbleGo.
We will research for a few days using a graphic organizer that makes a script for my students. Once
they start to finish, they will then get to log in to the pre-made Spotify for Podcasters account. They
will get to go 1 at a time into the rerecording tent to film their podcast. They will get to play around
with the sound effects and fun features this website offers. I will be available and walking around to
help any students who run into any problems or have any questions.

My students, who are very familiar with Flipped Classroom, will upload their podcast to the board
labeled “Extreme Weather Podcast”. They will then get to use their rubric to self-assess themselves.
On Friday, each student will get to share their Podcast with the class. As a class we will continue to
practice using a rubric and assess that students podcast.
Managing student learning:
I am going to include many tools to help manage student learning. Doing an engaging fun learning
activity will help shift my students from passive to active social learners. They will be engaged and
want to help fix these extreme weather patterns. My students will receive a graphic organizer that
when filled out will double as a script. They will be allowed to fill out this graphic organizer with
partners if they choose to. They will also be provided with a rubric that they will be able to self-assess
their podcast with.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Reflection:
The UDL principle I chose to use was Multiple Means of Expression, or the “How” to learning. I chose this
principle because this principle helps to support ALL students. I provided my students with a prioritized
checklist and an end goal example.
Reflection:
After I have designed this lesson plan, I feel like this lesson will go very great. Students will be very
excited to create a podcast which will help keep students engaged while they are learning. I am super
excited to implement this in my classroom to get to see my students become creative and see how
they choose to design their podcast. Each student’s podcast will be a little bit different which allows
them to show myself and their classmates a creative side of them.
