☐ Teacher-led: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations. Learning activities are assigned to the student and mostly
practice based.

☒ Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic of
learning and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. The teacher facilitates
the learning as the students direct their own learning processes.

☒ Problem-based and/or Publishable: Students are solving problems and completing projects to
demonstrate their learning. Additionally, the projects can be shared outside of the classroom.
(Note: This objective could be reached by displaying the project on the school’s morning
newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, presenting it to another class, or publishing
it via an outside source.)

Lesson idea implementation:

Students will create their own podcast in Spotify for Podcasters with a book of their choice from a
list of books with different point of views. They will talk about the book and explain the different
point of views of each character. As the teacher, I will guide the students through Spotify for
Podcasters before having them make their own. I will provide a Youtube video also to provide
extra assistance to those who need it to go back on. We will go through our I can statement
throughout to make sure the objective is clear. I will walk around the room to provide assistance
to those who need it, and make sure everyone is good with the software and on task. I will make a
discussion board for students to provide link to their podcast for everyone to listen to, including
for myself to provide feedback.
Managing student learning:

The students will be working on their own so there shouldn’t be a shift in behavior. Students will be
given time to work in and out of class, and will be giving a list/schedule to make sure they are on
track to publish their podcast. Students will also create their own draft before using tool, in which
they will revise with a classmate.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Reflection:

This tool supports multiple means of engagement. Students will frame and create their very own
podcast from the book of their liking. They will share with their peers, and it allows for writing,
reading, and creating. It also isn’t very much grading their ability to read or write, but their ability to
understand point of view because all that is being graded is what they speak into their podcast.
Reflection:

I look forward to teaching students to make their podcast. I think it’s a great way to intrigue your
students in what they are learning! I am sure the students will feel the same. It’s a way for students
to feel connected to the outside, considering podcasts are very popular nowadays.
