Remembering Understanding Applying Analyzing Evaluating Creating

How do you plan to implement this lesson and integrate the technology? Check all that apply:

Teacher-led: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations. Learning activities are assigned to the student and mostly
practice based.

Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic of
learning and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. The teacher facilitates
the learning as the students direct their own learning processes.

Problem-based and/or Publishable: Students are solving problems and completing projects to
demonstrate their learning. Additionally, the projects can be shared outside of the classroom.
(Note: This objective could be reached by displaying the project on the school’s morning
newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, presenting it to another class, or publishing
it via an outside source.)

Write a paragraph describing how the lesson will be implemented using the prompts as your
guide. Remember, this lesson MUST facilitate STUDENT-USE of an audio or video tool to
demonstrate their learning on a topic of your choice: I plan for students to create their own podcast
episode, pretending to be one of the framers during the creation of the Constitution. For example,
they have the choice of being James Madison, George Washington, or Benjamin Franklin. The
students will have to know the point of view of their person and essentially speak on behave of their
opinions. It will be introduced to students by showing them an example of my own podcast. I will
explain and show them how to create the podcast. Students will utilize Spotify for Podcasters
application on the laptops. The teacher will facilitate and be available if help is needed. Feedback
will be provided to the students through their classmates guessing which person they have chosen
to be and from a graded rubric which they will receive after listening to their podcasts. I will
conclude the lesson by listening to everyone’s podcast in class and having the students guess the
person that they were pretending to be.

Managing student learning: The students will be active social learners by being the creators of their
own product. Students will co-engage by being partners and working on the podcasts together. They
can take separate positions such as, writer, editor, or speaker. They may also just do everything
together, it’s all their choice.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Reflection: Be sure to mention one specific UDL principle you
are focused on in this lesson – Multiple Means of Engagement, Multiple Means of Representation,
or Multiple Means of Action & Expression.
The activity I have planned supports all students by having them do this activity on their own
without any true limitations from the teacher. Also, having the students work together will hopefully
keep them focused on the task. By having students create something with audio, it becomes more
accessible for a variety of learners and allows for representation of many other students. Essentially,
the lesson focuses on engagement, multiple means of representation, and action & expression of
the UDL Framework.
Reflection: I think this lesson idea will impact student learning by making sure they really
understand the points of view of each framer from the Constitution. Hopefully, it will help them to
hear the points of view from their classmates. I look forward to hearing what the students have
created and watching them work together to make their own podcasts, because children are so
creative and being able to witness this will actually being enjoyable.
