Remembering Understanding Applying Analyzing Evaluating Creating

How do you plan to implement this lesson and integrate the technology? Check all that apply:

Teacher-led: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations. Learning activities are assigned to the student and mostly
practice based.

Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic of
learning and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. The teacher facilitates
the learning as the students direct their own learning processes.

Problem-based and/or Publishable: Students are solving problems and completing projects to
demonstrate their learning. Additionally, the projects can be shared outside of the classroom.
(Note: This objective could be reached by displaying the project on the school’s morning
newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, presenting it to another class, or publishing
it via an outside source.)

guide. Remember, this lesson MUST facilitate STUDENT-USE of an audio or video tool to
demonstrate their learning on a topic of your choice:
What activity will you plan for your students using this tool and how will it be introduced? How will
you make students aware of their goal(s)? How will students utilize the technology? What will the
teacher do? How will feedback be provided to the students? Finally, how will you conclude the
lesson?

I would like to do something along the lines of the teacher using a Podcast/audio of herself to teach
most of the lesson, even if the teacher is with them in the classroom. The students can listen to the
audio with headphones or quietly in groups, and I would most likely have a recording of myself
reading out of our textbook. My other idea would be to do something like a Nearpod, where I talk,
and they click along each slide to see text, images, or both. Nearpod has a lot of opportunities to add
multimedia into it, so I’d place my own podcast in the Nearpod, and then explain other slides using
regular audio files. I would introduce the lesson we are learning (stars and planets), and then warn
them that we will be using audio to complete this lesson later on, just so they know what’s coming. I
would teach the lesson through the audios and using text and images to support varying learning
needs, and then I would have them move on to creating their own audio file. I would introduce these
steps with audio files attached to visuals, so that way it is an easy step by step for students. I would
have them create audio files in order to inform me of what they learned and got out of the lesson,
and in this case, the differences between stars and planets. Feedback will be provided by me
listening to each audio and scoring based on the minimum requirement of 2 differences talked about
in their audios. Our lesson would conclude with a small audio file if we are online, but if we are in
person I would conclude in person. We would briefly talk about a few big differences we all saw, and
then move on to asking how they felt about using audio to express what they learned. If they
enjoyed it, I would like to know what part of the audio/podcast stood out to them and helped them,
or what to improve if they didn’t like it. If the class was held in person I would be there to help them
in person, but if it was an online day, I would be ready to answer any questions emailed my way, or I
could put up a FigJam and keep my eye on it to answer questions. I would put as much detail as
possible in my podcast and audios while still keeping them short, clear, and concise.
Managing student learning:
Their first steps for learning are just to read, look, and listen. They are mostly listening, but I will have text
written and some images provided to enrich their learning experience and cater to any needs. They are
studying in the first half, and creating and expressing in the second half. I would a lot some time for all of the
students to just listen to the audio and keep quiet. Once most or all of the class is finished, they can work in
groups if they would like to start writing up some notes or a script for the audio, then create the audio, and
ultimately become more active in this assignment.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Reflection: Be sure to mention one specific UDL principle you
are focused on in this lesson – Multiple Means of Engagement, Multiple Means of Representation,
or Multiple Means of Action & Expression.
Reflect upon the activity you have planned for the students. The technology tool you selected for
this lesson idea should support ALL students. How does this activity and the technology tools you
selected support and enhance the learning experience for students in the classroom? Support your
argument using at least one of the following principles of UDL: How does this tool support
Engagement, Representation or Action and Expression components of the UDL framework?

I am focused on multiple means of representation in this lesson. I want to provide them with as

many accessibility resources as possible that represent what we’re learning in different ways. This
allows the students to feel fully informed about what they are learning online, and give the parents
the ability to help if so desired – and written in their home language.
Reflection:
If I actually created a Nearpod, I would be very excited. I am excited about the thought of adding a
podcast within a Nearpod, and then taking as many slides as needed to help break down a concept
for my students. I would add text/transcript to every slide, and images when needed. It will let them
study and also lightly interact with the learning material. Then, I will give them the opportunity to
put their heads together and collaborate on creating an audio file about what they learned from this
lesson. I love giving students different materials to work with because I think freedom of creativity
helps learning a lot. This lesson would be about teaching them how to use audio in addition to
learning about stars and planets, but in the future, they have that opportunity to use it more and
know how to do it.
Another side note is that I would not let them create a podcast unless it was under a school account
where their privacy would be protected. This is why I discussed more in terms of audio file making,
because Spotify for Podcasters requires an account, which could come in conflict with that.
