platforms, tools, styles, formats and digital correctly differentiate between common, proper
media appropriate to their goals. and plural nouns.
What is the student learning goal(s) for this lesson idea?
The learning goal for this lesson is for students to be able to understand and identify the different
types of nouns successfully, while also navigating the Web 2.0 tool and using it to communicate with
their classmates.

Bloom’s Taxonomy Level(s):

☐ Remembering ☐ Understanding ☐ Applying ☐ Analyzing ☐ Evaluating ☐ Creating

The purpose of this lesson is to get students to remember and understand the different types of
nouns and then apply that information to questions to identify types of nouns themselves. Learning
this information helps push them towards being able to analyze types of nouns, such as comparing
the different types.
How do you plan to implement this lesson and integrate the technology? Check all that
apply: (Sometimes only one option will apply.)

☐ Teacher-led: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by
teacher direction and expectations. Learning activities are assigned to the
student and mostly practice based.

☐ Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic
of learning and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. The
teacher facilitates the learning as the students direct their own learning processes.

☐ Problem-based and/or Publishable: Students are solving problems
and completing projects to demonstrate their learning. Additionally, the projects can be shared
outside of the classroom. (Note: This objective could be reached by displaying the project on the
school’s morning newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, presenting it to another
class, or publishing via an outside source.)

Lesson idea implementation: Students will be kept engaged in this lesson because while it is
teacher-led, they will be given the freedom to explore the Padlet as much as they want so long as

they complete all the activities within the given timeframe. If they want/need to rewatch the videos
a few times, they will be allowed to do that. I will also be going around the computer lab making
sure that everyone stays on task. They will also be engaged with each other through the Padlet as
they will be engaged to respond to their classmates' responses on the Padlet, particularly with the
last question. In regard to an assessment, the Kahoot that is included in the Padlet will serve as the
assessment. I will lead the class in playing the Kahoot game once everyone has made it through the
whole Padlet.
Managing student learning: This tool will encourage students to move from passive to active social
learners because it is interactive. Students will be expected to answer the questions on the Padlet in
the comments. It will encourage them to get out of their comfort zone and answer questions that
their classmates will be able to see without having to be embarrassed or shy to speak in front of the
class. In order to keep the assignment on task, I will establish a time limit of 45 minutes to go
through all the Padlet activities. We will complete the lesson in the computer lab so that each
student will get their own computer. I will be walking around the lab answering questions, but
students will also be encouraged to talk to and engage with their neighbors if they have a question
before asking me. Then after the 45-minute mark, I will gather the class's attention and we will play
the Kahoot and answer the final reflection question together.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL): In this lesson, I provided 2 videos for students to view. One of
the videos is a Schoolhouse Rock song. The other video is a BrainPop video which includes a quiz for
students to test their knowledge. These videos will get the kids engaged and excited about learning.
Two more activities are question and answer questions that students will respond to in comments,
representing two different ways students can understand the content. It closes with a Kahoot game
for students to practice what they learned, in which they use action and expression to show what
they learned.
Reflective Practice: I believe that this tool helps students understand the topic better than other
tools because it allows students to have access to several resources all in one place. I was able to
place several activities, such as videos, questions and a game about the topic into the Padlet all
together for students to view and complete. While other tools may just provide them with one
resource to use, Padlet allows them access to many things at once that they can view as many times
as they need to.
