How do you plan to implement this lesson and integrate the technology? Check all that apply:
( X ) Teacher-led: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations. Learning activities are assigned to the
student and mostly practice based.
Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic
of learning and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. The
teacher facilitates the learning as the students direct their own learning processes.
Problem-based (Real world problems) and/or Publishable: Students are solving problems
and completing projects to demonstrate their learning. Additionally, the projects can be shared
outside of the classroom. (Note: This objective could be reached by displaying the project on the
school's morning newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, presenting it to another
class, or publishing it via an outside source.)
Lesson idea implementation: The students will start off by doing a pre assessment of life cycles and
what they know. This pre assessment will be done on the carpet where the students will talk with a

partner about what they believe a life cycle is. Next, we will do an interactive PowerPoint explaining
what life cycle is and animal stages common to all animal life cycles.
(https://www.slideshare.net/talmadgealex/life-cycles-ppt-5387645). After reviewing the PowerPoint
students will go on their computers and access the wakelet about the life cycle of a butterfly. This
wakelet includes 4 assessments and a final assessment that will conclude the lesson. Students will be
given till the rest of class to finish the wakelet assignment. While this is happening, I will be walking
around checking on the students and asking one at a time to come to my desk for a 1v1 and see
where they are at with the assignment. At the very end of this lesson students will be asked to draw
the life cycle of a butterfly.
Managing student learning:
Students will use their computers to access and complete the wakelet. Students will not be working
in groups because this wakelet will need to be completed individually. However, students after
completing each assignment will talk with other students who finished the same assignment about
what their favorite part was about that assignment.
