Lesson Idea Name: Composing and decomposing numbers from 11-19

Grade Level/Content Area: Kindergarten

Content Standard Addressed: K.NR.3.1 Describe numbers from 11 to 19 by composing (putting

together) and decomposing (breaking apart) the numbers into ten ones and some more ones.

ISTE Technology Standard Addressed: What would you like students to know and be
Empowered Learner – 1.1.a. Students articulate and able to do by the end of this lesson: Students
set personal learning goals, develop strategies should be able to tell that numbers between 11-
leveraging technology to achieve them and reflect on 19 are 10 ones + some more ones.
the learning process itself to improve learning
outcomes.

What is the student learning goal(s) for this lesson idea? I want students to be able to learn and
collaborate through the use of interaction web tools.

How do you plan to implement this lesson and integrate the technology? Check all that apply:

☐ Teacher-led: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations. Learning activities are assigned to the
student and mostly practice based.

☐ Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic
of learning and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. The
teacher facilitates the learning as the students direct their own learning processes.

☐ Problem-based (Real world problems) and/or Publishable: Students are solving problems
and completing projects to demonstrate their learning. Additionally, the projects can be shared
outside of the classroom. (Note: This objective could be reached by displaying the project on the
school’s morning newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, presenting it to another
class, or publishing it via an outside source.)

Lesson idea implementation: Teacher will create a collaborative/ communication tool for students
to work on all these questions will be addressed through using padlet. Their prior knowledge will be
assessed through communication I will debrief the lesson and see what students know prior to using
the tool and then explain the tool and what they will be doing on the padlet. The lesson will be

concluded with students taking a kahoot quiz to show their understanding and knowledge.

Managing student learning: I will set a time limit for the tool we are using we will have a quick
debrief and discussion about the topic then I will allow students to do assignment on the computer
for a period of time and once the time has ran out I will see how students did on the kahoot and we
will discuss the outcomes and students will debrief what they have learned

Universal Design for Learning (UDL): I choose a platform that allows students with different
learning abilities to be accommodated such as there is video recording, voice record, and many
other features.
Reflective Practice: Yes, I do because students will be able to interactively learn using technology
vs teacher just talking and giving worksheets. One of the things I included on the padlet was a
song students learn best through music it sticks with them a catchy tune helping the grasp and
understand the concept. I look forward to allowing students to show their understanding through
the use of different tools and techniques it allows students to be able to show if they truly
understand the concept.
