A Unique Collection This CD volume contains 24 specially selected, rare world maps plus 10 cartographic motifs from the Age of Discovery through the Golden Age of Cartography. Over a century of mapmaking is covered in this collection which includes maps from such important cartographers as Mercator, Blaeu, Ortelius, Hondius and Visscher. From the elegant, to the charming and idiosyncratic, these maps feature a variety of fascinating graphic motifs, including allegorical scenes, mythical creatures, celestial diagrams, banners and calligraphy.

Production Excellence Visual Language has taken extra care to provide digital imagery with the extensive detail and clarity of the original antiquarian source material. Original maps were photographed by Visual Language staff using a 4 x 5 view camera to best capture the details of the engravings and hand-coloring. Each image was then individually drum scanned, meticulously retouched, color balanced and expertly enhanced to deliver the highest possible image quality.

File Formats The digital images are provided in three resolutions. The high resolution map images range in size between 35 and 79 MB RGB. Many of the maps are large enough to be printed across a double page spread. With these superbly detailed, large file sizes, you can zoom in and reproduce an area or specific detail within a map. Medium resolution files provide an average image area of 5 x 7 at 300 dpi. Low resolution files are 72 dpi and are approximately 1.5 MB.
