Gov. Jerry Brown unveiled a $94.

3 billion general fund budget Thursday that reflects different amounts of spending cuts depending on whether voters approve a proposed November ballot measure to temporarily raise $7 billion in taxes.

CalWORKS, $946.2 million:
Reducing welfare-to-work eligibility and assistance.

EDUCATION:
K-14 schools, $544.4 million
71,000 child care slots for low-income working families.

Schools and community colleges, $4.8 billion: Equivalent to reducing


the school year by three weeks.

Flood control, $6.6 million Department of Fish and Game, $3.5 million: (Up to $20 million
when fully implemented.) Includes 20 percent reduction in game warden funding.

Child care, $446.9 million: Eliminate Cal Grants, $302 million: Reduce Other education cuts, $28 million

University of California, $200 million California State University, $200 million Courts, $125 million: Equivalent to
closing courts three days per month.

Medi-Cal, $842 million: Merging


services for people who receive both Medi-Cal and Medicare.

In-Home Supportive Services, $163.8 million: Eliminating


domestic and other services for people in shared living arrangements.

grants for students attending private institutions, higher GPA requirement.

Park rangers, $1 million: Reduce park ranger funding by 20 percent. Park lifeguards, $1 million:
Eliminate seasonal lifeguards.

ADDITIONAL CUTS:
State mandates, $828.3 million:
Suspend or repeal dozens of state mandates on local government.

Cal Fire, $15 million: (Up to $60


million when fully implemented.) Air services reduced and fire stations closed.
