COUNTERTERRORISM CONFERENCE

A free training conference for federal, state, and local law enforcement, EMS, and Intelligence Personnel

About the Training:


The U.S. Attorney's Office -Anti-Terrorism Advisory Council (ATAC) - Middle District of Tennessee and the Nashville Joint Terrorism Task Force will host a two day Counterterrorism Training event in conjunction with the FBI's Counterterrorism Division - Continuing Education and Professional Development Unit (CEPDU) and the Combating Terrorism Center at West Point, on February 27-28, 2012; 8am-5pm each day. Topics include: Introduction to Political Violence, Origins of Islam, Frameworks for Understanding Global Jihad, Radicalization, Regional Hot spots, Domestic Case Studies, Countering Violent Extremism, The Internet, Social Media, and Investigations Online. With additional guest speakers from the American Muslim Advisory Council, the conference will cover a vast amount of information over (2) Eight hour training days to enhance the counterterrorism capabilities of local, state, and federal Law Enforcement, Intelligence, and EMS professionals . The function of the Anti-Terrorism Advisory Council is to enhance training and information sharing among the districts federal, state and local law enforcement, as well as other first responders and private parties, in matters related to terrorism. The Joint Terrorism Task Force is the nation's front line on terrorism and is a dedicated unit of highly trained, locally based investigators, analysts, linguists, tactical experts, and other specialists from several U.S. law enforcement and intelligence agencies. The Combating Terrorism Center is an independent, privately funded, research and educational institution situated at West Point that informs and shapes counterterrorism policy and strategy. ** There is plenty of free parking, however, please respectfully arrive and be seated prior to the start time each day, as the presentations, content, and guest speakers are reliant on a timely schedule.
