Definition - is a sport involving performance of exercises requiring physical strength, flexibility, agility, coordination, and balance.
Artistic Gymnastics - a discipline where gymnast performs on an apparatus. It is usually divided into 2 categories: a. Mens Artistic Gymnastics b. Womens Artistic Gymnastics
Rhythmic Gymnastics - a discipline performed only by women, where a gymnast performs with the apparatus (ball, ribbon, hoop, clubs, rope).
Sports Aerobics (Aerobic Gymnastics) (AER) - involves the performance of routines by individuals, pairs, trios or groups up to 6 people, emphasizing strength, flexibility, and aerobic fitness rather than acrobatic or balance skills.
Sports Acrobatics (Acrobatic Gymnastics) (ACRO) -it combines the power and athletic prowess of Tumbling and Artistic Gymnastics with grace, artistry and presentation of dance.
Trampolining Gymnastics -it is doing flips only on the trampoline. The routines involve a build-up phase during which the gymnast jumps repeatedly to achieve height, followed by a sequence of ten leaps without pauses & ends with a series of aerial tumbling skills.
General Gymnastics - Is the basis of all gymnastics disciplines, which offers a range of exercise programmes with special characteristics.
Arch is a position where the body is curved like an arc of a circle, with the hip forward and the trunk bent forward.
Base Support
- Body part or parts that support the body weight.
Exercise or routine - a series of dance skills, locomotor skills, gymnastics and tumbling skills performed with or without music
Held or static position -these are position held for two seconds.
Lay Out - body and legs extended in a back arch, head back, arms usually extended oblique upward.
