Road Conditions Did you know that road conditions are applicable to military vehicles only? Many younger servicemembers who drive military vehicles dont have the extensive professional driver training and certification of contract bus drivers. Senior Army leaders will not permit anyone to drive in road conditions that could potentially put drivers and their passengers in danger. CRC Commissary Open The Camp Red Cloud commissary will be open Feb. 20, Presidents Day. For more information, call 732-7604. School Closed Casey Elementary School will be closed Feb. 20, a Monday, in observance of Presidents Day. For more information, call 730-6444. Easter Services Ash Wednesday services are scheduled for Feb. 22 at three Area I installations: at Camp Stanleys Stanley Chapel at noon; at Camp Red Clouds Warrior Chapel at 5:30 p.m.; at Camp Caseys Memorial Chapel at 6 p.m. A Stations of the Cross service is scheduled for Feb. 24 at Camp Caseys Memorial Chapel. All Protestant Easter Services will be conducted at regular Sunday Worship service times and places. Banks Closed Community Bank branches in Area I will be closed on various days in February to allow for replacement of its teller systems. The closings are as follows: Camp Stanley, Feb. 23; Camp Casey, Feb. 29. For more information call 730-3375. Customer Appreciation Night A customer appreciation night is scheduled for Feb. 23 at the Camp Red Cloud bowling center from 6:30 7 p.m. Free snacks will be available. For more information, call 732-6930. Bataan March/Rucksack Challenge Two major Warrior Country sporting events are scheduled for Feb. 25 at the Carey Fitness Center on Camp Casey. The 2012 IMCOM Pacific Region 13.1 Mile Bataan Memorial Death March Qualifier is scheduled for Feb. 25. The qualifying event is for teams that will take part in the 2012 Bataan Memorial Death March at White Sands Missile Range, N.M., March 27. The event at Casey is open to active-duty military personnel stationed at IMCOM-Pacific installations in South Korea. Registration is 8:30 9:30 a.m. A course briefing is at 9:45 a.m. The race begins at 10 a.m. For more information on the categories of competition, and requirements for participation call 732-6276/6927. The other event is the 2012 Warrior Country Rucksack Challenge, an eight-mile road march. The event is open to active-duty personnel, Defense Deparment civilians and adult family members. Registration and rucksack weigh-ins are from 8:30 9:30 a.m. A course briefing is at 9:45 a.m. The race begins at 10 a.m. Participants must make the march in a rucksack or backpack weighing at least 35 pounds and with a full canteen at the start of the race. Casey Tax Center The Camp Casey tax center is located in bldg. 1709B and is open all Saturdays in February for appointments only, from 10 a.m. 2 p.m. It is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. 5 p.m. and Thursdays from 9 a.m. 7 p.m. In addition, it will be open Tuesday, Feb. 21, the day after Presidents Day, from 9 a.m. 4 p.m. Also, on Warrior Family Days, the center will operate from 10 a.m. 3 p.m., mainly for those with appointments, but walk-ins will also be welcomed. For appointments or more information, call 730-2568. Red Cloud Tax Office The 2nd Infantry Division tax office is now open at Camp Red Cloud, in Freeman Hall, room 119. Hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. noon, and from 1 5 p.m. Because of limited office space, taxes will be prepared by appointment only. Same-day appointments may be available. For an appointment or more information, call 730-2568. Scholarships for Military Children Applications for the 2012 Scholarships for Military Children program are now available at commissaries worldwide and online, and must be turned in at a commissary by Feb. 24. The program awards at least one $1,500 scholarship to a student at each commissary. To be eligible for a scholarship, the student must have a military ID card, and be no older than 21, or no older than 23 if enrolled as a fulltime student at a college or university. Also, they must be the unmarried child of either an active-duty servicemember, reservist, guardsman, retiree, survivor of a military member who died while on active duty, or survivor of a retiree.
