Center and Guard Technique
• Center – step to play side and cup to sally side
– If the DT commits inside, the center will block him into
the backfield as far as possible
– If the DT goes straight or outside, the center goes to the
ILB
• Guard – step to play side and cup to sally side
– DT works inside – punch him and go to ILB
– DT goes straight or outside, take him into the backfield
as far as possible
Tackle & TE Technique

Center technique
• The center has the nose and must maintain
his block.
• He can block the nose either way
Guard and Tackle Technique
• The guard and tackle will combo versus an odd
front
• They will read the DT and progress to the ILB
• Guard
– If the DT stays straight or wide – go to ILB
– If the DT comes inside – wheel him into backfield
• Tackle
– If the DT stays straight or wide – wheel him into
backfield
– If the DT comes inside – punch him and go to ILB
TE Technique
• Step to the play side and cup to the sally
side
• Block the DE unless he rushes hard past
your outside shoulder. If this case arises –
slap him and release up field.

• Reverse pivot and ride the tailback.
• Pull ball and push off front foot and slide
