O Most Blessed Trinity, we your unworthy creatures, thank you for all the gifts and privileges which you have granted to Saint Gerard, especially for those virtues with which you have adorned him on earth and the glory which you impart to him in heaven. Accomplish your work, O Lord, for the greater glory of the Holy Church. Glorify him before men and women and through his merits, in union with those of Jesus and Mary, grant us the grace for which we ask We ask for healing and protection for Matthew Wise, your child.

And you, our powerful intercessor St. Gerard, always so ready to help those who have recourse to you, pray for Matthew and his family. Prostrate yourself before the throne of Divine Mercy and please do not leave it without being heard. To you we confide this important and urgent affair. Graciously take our cause in hand and let us not end this novena without having experienced in some way the effects of your intercession. Amen.

A Reading from the Acts of the Apostles

Now Peter and John were going up to the temple area for the three o'clock hour of prayer. 2 And a man crippled from birth was carried and placed at the gate of the temple called "the Beautiful Gate" every day to beg for alms from the people who entered the temple. When he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked for alms. But Peter looked intently at him, as did John, and said, "Look at us." He paid attention to them, expecting to receive something from them. 3 Peter said, "I have neither silver nor gold, but what I do have I give you: in the name of Jesus Christ the Nazorean, (rise and) walk." Then Peter took him by the right hand and raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankles grew strong. He leaped up, stood, and walked around, and went into the temple with them, walking and jumping and praising God.

O most beloved Saint Gerard, who, like the Savior, loved children and by your prayers freed many from disease and even death, listen to us who are pleading for Matthew.
