Instruments capable of producing a continuous glissando Gliss through the chosen frequency continuum as exactly as possible. The chosen line dictates the progression of the gliss. Instruments of fixed pitch When the glissing group plays a tone shared by an instrument of fixed pitch, a player may sustain that tone or play it as an impulse. An impulse is allowed to decay naturally. Instruments of indefinite pitch When a player from the fixed pitch group begins sustaining a tone, continuously and evenly play until that player finishes sustaining.
