Project #1 - Roosevelt Drive Wastewater Pumping Stations Upgrades - The Roosevelt Drive Wastewater Pumping Station was originally

constructed in the 1960's with the last upgrade to the pumping station in the mid 1970's and is beyond its intend life and is in need of a complete replacement before a catastrophic structural failure occurs. The current Roosevelt Drive Wastewater Pumping Station is currently located in the Housatonic River Floodway and has had numerous mechanical failures which have resulted in the discharge of raw wastewater to the river. The upgrades to the pumping station are also needed so that capacity can be increased to allow for planned developments along Route 34by the City which will result in in additional economic development and an overall enhancement to the quality of life within the City.

Project #2 - Route 34 Sanitary Sewer Improvements between Route 8 and Cernetery Lane - The sanitary sewers along this corridor currently have structural issues, are under capacity and in some areas inaccessible. The State of Connecticut is currently in the process of upgrading this corridor and the City will see a cost savings of several million dollars by replacing the sewers in conjunction with the State project. Since this is the main trunk sewer to the treafinent facility, additional capacity is needed so that several planned developments can occur. These developments will result in in additional economic development and an overall enhancement to the quality of life within the City.

Project #3 - East Derby Wastewater Pumping Stations Upgrades - The East Derby Wastewater Pumping Station is currently a siphon under the Naugatuck River near Hog Island. The siphon is under capacity, inaccessible for maintenance and has right of way issues with the Metro North Railroad. The East Derby Wastewater Pumping Station is planned to replace the siphon. The East Derby Wastewater Pumping Station will effectively replace the siphon and increase the sewer capacity in East Derby. The additional capacity is need to allow the City to proceed with several planned developments which will result in in additional economic development and an overall enhancement to the quality of life within the City.
