What shouldnt come out: No unwholesome word should come out. According to Strongs Concordance with Hebrew and Greek Lexicon, the word unwholesome means rotten.

What should come out: This verse tell us that we should use words that are good for edification. According to Strongs Concordance with Hebrew and Greek Lexicon, the word edification means building up.

We should use words that build each other up. We shouldnt try to tear each other down with our words.

Apply It
Print out a No Rotten Words poster for each child. Post these on the refrigerator. Print out the fruit stickers. Tell your children that you will be listening to see what kinds of words come out of their mouths today. If you hear rotten words, add a rotten banana sticker to that childs poster. If you hear words that build up, add an apple sticker. Note: The sticker page can be printed out onto Avery 3261 White Return Address Labels. You can also just print onto regular copy paper and use a glue stick to apply. At the end of the day (or week), look to see if each child had more rotten words or words that built up proceed out of his/her mouth. You may choose to reward the child with the most apples, if youd like. Alternatively, you may choose to reward a child who had more apples verses rotten bananas.
