PCB Drilling Machine using Cartesian Robot

Automatic control of devices becomes an essential part in our day to day life. The reason for this is complex works can also be done twice as fast than the humans do. Another reason is accuracy. So we have developed a PC Based drilling machine which makes the drilling of PCB parts very comfortable and easier. We have decided to used stepper motors which can be controlled easier and can be start and stopped at any point of time. This project involves movement of all the axes like, up, down, X-axis, Yaxis and drilling depth etc. All the devices in the Controller can be configured from the Software created in Visualbasic. All this parameters are converted to stepper motor movements and are processes one by one. This project is divided into modules for better understanding of the circuit.The modules include PIC Microcontroller Optocoupler With Stepper Driver Board Stepper Power Supply Board. Mechanical Model PIC Microcontroller Board This is the board which contains PIC Microcontroller Chip as well as the clock Circuitary, Reset Circuit and Power Supply for the MicroController. OptoCoupler With Stepper Driver Board. The need of Optocoupler is to isolate the Microcontroller Board form the Stepper Motor to restrict any high voltage to the Microcontroller board. And this board also contains stepper Driver circuit to amplify the Voltge and to withstand

high current because the pulse coming out from the Microcontroller is not tough enough to drive the Motor. Stepper Power Supply. This board contains the power Supply for the stepper motor and relay driver.
