Group-Conference Reflection In the group conference we discussed our proposals and whether they were great and original

ideas or not. My proposal proposed that I research How fans and outsiders influence Mixed Martial Arts. I decided to research this proposal as I had always wondered why some fighters get special treatment due to having more fans and being a bigger draw then other fighters even if their performance hasnt been up to standard. I also want to research how this impacts the athletes life in turn and how in pop culture being famous in athletics could be more important than performance. In the group discussion many felt it was a good topic and that it would be original as well as not many people research this topic. I was also given a perspective from other sports as well. After the group discussion I decided to take a broader view and research how fans and outsiders influence sports as a whole. I think this would be a better focus, as it would be more difficult to find research concerning MMA fans alone.
