THE ROLE OF VOTERS SPCIO-ECONOMIC STATUS AND THE QUALITY OF POLITICAL PARTIES IN IMPROVING POLITICAL PARTICIPATION IN THE REGENT

Yahya Arwiyah (0907509) Voters in Bandung Regency is part of Indonesian people playing an important role in determining policy and organizing lawful lives considering Indonesia is a democratic nation based on constitutions. On other hand, the involvement of citizens in a political life general or regional election was not free from socio-economic status or background of in fact, political participation of citizens was not yet optimum because of the diversity of socio-economic status, the decrease in trust level of citizens forwards ideological line of tehe political parties, and role of paternalistic culture as well as the lack of political education carried on by the political parties. The research was carried on with quatitative approach, supported by qualitative data from community the solicit voters in the regional election of Bandung Regent. The general objective of this study was to explore, asses, select, and organize theritical and empirical the voters and the quality of political parties in increasing political participation in the election of Regent in Bandung Regency during 2010. The result of this study showed that: Firstly, the peoples socio-economic status at the educational level had a role in political participation by 22, 75%, in income level by 28, 62% and in the difference of job type (Dummy) by 0,35%; Secondly the quality of political parties had their own significant roles in the political participation, that is: political education of cogtive dimension by 32, 6%, the political education of affective dimension by 40,32%, the ideology of parties by 46,65%; Thirdly, socio-economic status of the voters
