INSTITUT: INSTITUT PENDIDIKAN GURU KAMPUS KENINGAU NAMA GURU PELATIH : SUBJECT: WAJ3102:ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY PROGRAM : PISMP COMMENCING DATE: 16 JANUARY 2012 DATE OF SUBMISSION : 30 JANUARY 2012 The English Language for Communication Course is a course to enable students to use English in various real life contexts and takes into account the linguistic needs of the teachers and thus the teaching sessions are developed in response to their needs. One activity of the speaking component which gives the students the exposure to be competent speakers of the language is Public Speaking. This enables them to practice the speaking skill which focuses on correct stress, pronunciation, rhythm and intonation. In public speaking we need to take into consideration aspects of the language such as pronunciation, texts, audience and other elements of public speaking. In order to complete this task, prepare a folio that contains the following (INDIVIDUAL TASK): 1. Features of spoken language. a. Relevant materials on pronunciation, stress, rhythm and intonation (highlight important points or present in the form of graphic organizers). b. Relevant materials on public speaking (highlight important points/make notes). c. Characteristics of a good speaker (presented in the form graphic organizers). 2. Prepared speech of not less than five minutes on a given subject matter (in written form). 3. Recorded speech (audio tape). 4. An overall reflection on your task experience.
