DEFINITION
Store keeping refers to the safe custody of all materials stocked in stores where the store keeper acts as a trustee. It simply means that the materials are to be stored such that there is least possibilty of damage. It also helps for easy location and issuing whenever required.

Aims of Stores Management


Minimisation of cost of production. Coordination with other departments. Making available flow of raw materials within the least possible time. Providing spare parts, general stores required for production. Receiving from production unit and issuing to the sales unit. Accepting and storing scrap.
