Center for Academic Innovation Fall 2012 Schedule of Events Survey Content Information The research on innovation in higher

education suggests that interdepartmental faculty collaboration and heavyweight innovation teams are core to the ability of higher education institutions to become more innovative and to survive and thrive. AUNE's forthcoming five-year campus strategic plan prioritizes academic innovation and excellence. It includes these strategies for achieving this goal: Spark, orient, and create a culture of innovation throughout AUNE that results in the development of new and relevant academic initiatives consistent with AUNEs values. Enhance strategic partnering to develop new academic offerings. As the CAI develops program offerings for this academic year, we are committed to advancing these goals and strategies. In addition, during the past year, a core group of faculty from across several departments has surfaced the desire to orient our academics and scholarship around a synergistic, transdepartmental, and mission-critical academic theme/societal need and become the best at it. One example would be becoming the best at teaching/learning and scholarship focused on change leadership/agency. Action steps would include: Developing innovative, world class educational models and academic offerings in the selected area in concert with potential employers, funders, and alumni that will attract new applicants Dedicating time, space, and resources to interdepartmental/transdisciplinary innovation and action in the selected area The CAI views this emerging conversation as an interesting possibility for innovation and is committed to supporting further exploration of this concept.
