    In early September of 1781, a band of settlers founded their new town:

    El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora de Los Angeles. Since then, Angelenos have sought the aid and protection
    of the Blessed Mother for what has become a great, yet often challenged, city.

    On Saturday, September 8, 2012, a grand Marian Procession through downtown Los Angeles
    and Votive Mass at the Cathedral will be held to celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of the
    Angels, to aid and protect our City and County which all bear Our Lady's name.
    Everyone is invited to participate in this joyful observance!
    Join thousands of participants in full regalia as they entreat Christ the King, Mary the Queen, and the
    Archangels and Guardian Angels whom they command, to aid and protect our city, County and Archdiocese
    all dedicated to Nuestra Señora de Los Ángeles.
