RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

In pursuing this project I had to make the time to read Professor G.K Nukunyas book titled Tradition And Change in Ghana-An introduction to Sociology and Rev. Dr. Sarpongs Ghana In Retrospect which gave me a clear idea on how to Ghanaian society identifies with marriage and its associated endeavours. I had also taken a course in research methods last semester, which helped me conduct my interviews and literature review. I also recorded my interview so I can ensure correct referencing to them.

P a g e | iii OBEJECTIVES The union between man and woman, under the ordinances of God, is held in high esteem by all Christian societies. Under these ordinances is a mix of laws governing the said union based on either traditional principles and morals or Christian dogmas. The purpose of this write up is to consider some of these principles set by the Christian affiliation and/or the society specifically the role of the husband and wife and other concerned parties, in present day Ghana. Within the context of reviewed literature and interviews, I will try to:

1. Identify what marriage is to the Christian and the society 2. Determine the important parties in a marriage union 3. Identify the role of these parties in a marriage
