Reasons For Call Drop: 1.

If the network is congested and you are low priority user then call might be dropped. 2. The signal level for an ideal call is Transmit +43db Receive -60 ~ -80db Some times while receiving call, suppose due to path loss or shadowing, if receiving signal level is -95db, then call will be dropped. 3. Sometimes there are pockets due to inappropriate radio network planning, in those pockets call might be dropped. 4. During handover, if the interference from the neighboring BTS is too high the call might be dropped. 5. Sometimes SACCH, FACCH signaling channels are not available to provide a TCH channel. In that case call might be dropped. 6. Sometimes it might happen that MS is too far from the center of BTS that is at the cell boundary. At that MS faces problem to make a call as the transmitted signal from MS will not reach BTS. 7. Radio link fault. During the communication, messages cant be received correctly. 8. Abis link broken during conversation. 9. Call drop during handover. 10. Other system faults. 11, Timers that may cause call drops (BSC timer).

Reasons For Handover Failure: 1. Neighbors Definition with Co BCCH and BSIC. 2. Wrong HO Synchronization. 3. Non Symmetrical (One Way Neighbors). 4. Adjacencies Discrepancies. 5. High TCH Congestion. 6. Missing Potential Neighbors. 7. Missing Frequencies on Active State of BA List. 8. Creation of unwanted far of Neighbors with low signal strength. 9. Abis failure (PCM related faults). 10. VSWR-DAC Values Issues. 11. BTS Hardware Issues. 12. Uplink and downlink interference. 13. Low uplink and downlink RX Level values. 14. Large distance between BTS and MS. 15. Discrepancies in the power budget calculations. 16. Low C/I & C/A values.
