In the vastness of the sky

Professor Dodda Range Gowda
Translation: H.R. Chandrasekhar
In the vastness of the sky, monsoon clouds emerge
In the blooming hide of earth, golden creepers merge
The fiery sun has mellowed; Earth has a smiling urge
In the race of hungry peasants hope begins to surge
In the impassable woods, lush green plants beam
In the gait of matchless riches, cicada begin to scream
Thunder reverberates as the spirited rains arrive
Hauling the smell of earth joyous winds come alive
Under the unrivaled sky happiness turns rife
Spirits rise high despite the struggles of life
Beauty is shown in the countless leaves and bloom
In the thick dark clouds, the hope of rains loom
One waits nervous in the anticipation of Monsoon
Buds burst open bringing an ecstatic swoon
In the march of new ploughs the season's colors ring
With a new outlook among men, wheel of time keeps rolling
