A. Transport and additional costs

Incoterm (International Commercial Terms)

E Terms (Departure)

Premises - place of business

EXW - Ex Works

buyer collects the goods at the seller's own premises and insurance against loss or damage to the goods in transit

B. The E and F terms

Seller delivers the goods to a carrier appointed by the buyer and located in the seller's country. The buyer arranges insurance FCA - Free Carrier
the goods are delivered to a named place where the carrier can load them onto a truck, train or aeoplane seller delivers the goods to the quay next to the ship in the port seller pays for loading the goods onto the ship

F Terms (Free, Main Carriage Unpaid)

FAS - Free Alongside Ship FOB - Free On Board

Seller arranges and pays for the carriage of transportation of the goods (Freight), but not for the payment of customs duties and taxes.

CFR & CPT

CFR - Cost and Freight CPT - Carriage Paid To CIF - Cost, Insurance and Freight CIP - Carriage and Insurance Paid To

buyer is responsible for insurance

CIF & CIP

seller arranges and pays for insurance

Seller pays all the costs involved in transporting the goods to the country of destination, including insurance DAF - Delivered At Frontier
importer is responsible for preparing the documentation and getting the goods through customs

C. The C and D terms

DES - Delivered Ex Ship

buyer pays for unloading the goods from the ship

DES & DEQ

Goods are delivered by ship to a port, 2 parties can choose who pays for unloading the goods onto the quay DEQ - Delivered Ex Quay
seller pays for unloading from the goods from the ship to the quay, and for the payment of customs duties and taxes

D Terms (Delivered/Arrival)

DDU - Delivered Duty Unpaid

buyer pays any import taxes

DDU & DDP


DDP - Delivered Duty Paid
seller pays any import taxes

Goods go through customs and are delivered to the buyer
