10th Annual OECS Credit Union Summit

Co-operatives: the Engine of Growth in Tough Economic Times.

Over four hundred (400) co-operators representing Credit Unions, Leagues and
Regulatory Institutions from throughout the OECS will meet in Portsmouth, Dominica over the period 22nd to 25th August, 2012 for the 10th Annual OECS Credit Unions Summit. The Summit will be held under the theme: Co-operatives: the Engine of Growth in Tough Economic Times.

The Summit will offer an array of workshops and networking sessions geared
towards assessing the common vulnerabilities of the States of the OECS against the background of the current global economic climate and identifying mechanisms and strategies that would be pursued by Credit Unions to bring enhanced value to their members, communities and national economies. Additionally, attention will be given to designing strategies that would improve partnerships among Credit Unions and deepen the integration process among the peoples of the sub-region.

The Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit, Prime Minister of Dominica will deliver the keynote
address at the Opening Ceremony of the Summit. Other feature speakers at the opening ceremony will include the Hon. Ian Douglas, Parliamentary Representative of the Portsmouth Constituency, and Mr. Cletus Joseph, President of the Dominica Cooperative Societies League Ltd. Heads of delegations will deliver fraternal greetings on behalf of the Co-operative Movements of the countries of the OECS.

During the Business Segment of the Summit, delegates will examine a wide range of
issues germane to the advancement of the OECS Credit Union Sector in keeping with the sub-themes of Regulations and Compliance, Business Development, Risk Management, Investment Planning, Youth in Cooperatives, Amalgamation and Mergers, and Human Resource Development.

A delegation of forty-five (45) cooperators from the St. Vincent and the Grenadines
Co-operative Movement will attend the 10th OECS Credit Unions Summit.
