What qualifications are needed for engineering jobs?


Qualifications for careers in engineering vary depending on the sector you select, but the following are the basic requirements for most engineering jobs: Graduate Route
GCSEs (generally A*- C) A-Levels (incl. Maths and Physics) Undergraduate Degree in IT Design Physics Mechanics Applied Technology Engineering (various disciplines)

Non-Graduate Route
Apprenticeship schemes Requires 5 GCSEs Scheme includes study towards engineering diploma and progression to Operator Higher apprenticeship Requires A-Levels in relevant subjects Apprenticeship leads to HND or Foundation Degree, leading to incorporated Engineer roles.

Membership of The Institution of Civil Engineers, Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), or Institute of Electrical Engineers (ICE). Professional Qualifications: CEng., IEng. & EngTech.
