Memories of Mrs.

Lacy
Abbey is my youngest child, and Mrs. Lacy was her kindergarten teacher. I think mothers get a little wrinkle in their hearts when their last child goes off to kindergarten. This feeling was compounded by the fact that Abbey was allergic to milk, nuts, and peanuts. Ill never forget Mrs. Lacys firm reassurance that she would do what was necessary to keep Abbey safe at school, and she did. She also managed and organized classroom activities with much forethought and planning so that Abbey could still participate in everything her classmates were involved in. To families and children with food allergies, safety and participation are big issues, and we are deeply grateful when others help us with these. Thank you, Mrs. Lacy. Fred & Marybeth List -------

Mrs. Lacy rescued me when I got locked in the coat closet of our kindergarten classroom. It was time for lunch and my classmates and I were getting our lunches and lunch money from the coat closet. I was the last one in the closet when, to my surprise, the door shut. I tried to get the attention of my

classmates, but no one heard. My classmates and teacher were too busy getting ready for lunch. A second later it was quiet in the classroom. I tried to push the doors of the closet open, but none would budge. I was hungry and scared that I might have to spend the rest of the day and night in the closet. Soon I heard footsteps in the room, and I called out to them. Help! Im stuck in the closet! The closet door opened, and to my surprise and relief, Mrs. Lacy was there. Thank you, Mrs. Lacy! I said. She asked me, Abbey, how did you get stuck in there Are you all right? I was afraid I wouldnt get lunch that day, but Mrs. Lacy, to my relief, said I must go and have some lunch. Mrs. Lacy, thank you for rescuing me from the coat closet and for being my kindergarten teacher. Abbey List P.S. Mrs. Lacy taught me what to expect in Norris Elementary School. Thanks, Mrs. Lacy. You made kindergarten an unforgettable experience.
