TWO KEYS TO SAFER FOOD: 1.

Keep clean Microorganisms are all around us, in water, in the soil, on animals, on our clothes, our skin, our hands etc. Contact any of these and the microorganisms can be transferred to food leading to food borne diseases, therefore: Wash your hands before handling food Wash your hands after using the toilet Wash and sanitize food contact surfaces and equipment Protect food processing areas from insects, pests and other animals.

2. Use safe water and raw materials Water and other raw materials may be contaminated with microorganisms and chemicals. Toxic chemicals may also be formed in damaged and moldy foods. One should therefore: Use safe water or treat it to make it safe Carefully inspect and select fresh and wholesome food Take measures such as washing and peeling to reduce risk Only use food that is not beyond its expiry date.
