Jim is the Global Coaching Initiative CoOrdinator for Coaching4Clergy. He was the first UMC clergy to be officially endorsed for the Ministry of Life Coaching. Jim is a renowned speaker, pastor, seminar leader, teacher and coach with a profound commitment to help others grow in their ministry and connection to God. He earned his Doctor of Ministry degree from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, and is a graduate of the Co-Active Leadership Program of the Coaches Training Institute in California. Jim coaches ministers, laypersons and church leaders from many different denominations who are motivated to grow in life and ministry. An avid global traveler, who once worked with Mother Teresa in Calcutta, Jim brings a passion for equipping new leaders for the world-wide church, especially in Africa. INTRODUCTION Imagine what would it be like if ministry leaders in local congregations had the skills to help their congregants discover what they most deeply wanted and needed for effective ministry, and then were able to create actions with the accountability to make them happen? Basic Coach Training is designed to equip pastors, ministry leaders and church leaders with basic coaching skills that can be integrated and incorporated into their local ministry setting. Coach training can dramatically enhance the ministry leaders effectiveness as a leader and greatly increase the impact within their faith community and the larger local community. In addition, this training will prepare ministry leaders to effectively coach each other in coaching partnerships among their peers. COURSE OBJECTIVES Participants in this training will:

Observe LIVE coaching by Dr. Jim Robey and other leaders. Gain a strong understanding of coaching and the distinction between coaching, therapy, consulting and mentoring. Develop and practice some coaching skills that can be incorporated into the local church setting. Receive a combination of coaching theory and practice. Learn a Five-Step Coaching Model.
