The school quality in Peru is not good.

It means that students are not achieving the desired standards and that there is wide dispersion in educational outcomes. This view has been ratified by different international studies in which our country has participated, in the national sample assessments performed by the Ministry of Education and in the last years census evaluation in reading skills of second graders. A general consensus has emerged regarding the countrys need to improve its educational outcomes , a that education quality has to increase to boost productivity and foster growth and at the same time that the country needs to reduce the education gap between top-bottom achievers as a way to reduce income inequality among Peruvians. In our country, secondary education lasts 5 years, normally a student could finish high college at the age of 16 or 17, but this not always happen. After high school, a student could take an exam to apply for a university, each university have their own entrance exam. However, many students had passed these exams when they are 14 or 15 years because theyve been studied in PreUniversity Institutes, these kinds of institutes dont be part of the formal education system in Peru. These students have to study for large number of hours every day , right now many high schools have minimum 7 or hours per day, thats an excess because adolescents dont have to spend all the day studying and practicing , its better if high school give them less hours , instead promote them to take seriously the courses , and also have progress with their learning. The governments intervention has been focused on supply side factors, such as building new schools and hiring new teachers, this type of interventions has always been demanded by general public opinion. Other educational policies have including providing central planned training to teachers, equipping schools with computers, raising salaries to teachers and others. But they didnt see the most important: our learning process, thats why we have a bad grade of lower knowledge. Its better if the students should receive an adequate education because the students are going to pass to a next step (the university) that will form their personality and also being well prepared to pass the obstacles that our society give us every day.
