Frank Ashe delivers a series of lectures at CURAJ

By Mehraj Dar BandarSindri Kishangarh, August 1: Prof. Frank Ashe, senior Australian actuarial consultant and professor Macquarie University Applied Finance Centre delivered a series of lectures at Central University of Rajasthan on Extreme Value Theory (EVM) and Risk Management Tools. It is pertinent to mention that his fields of interest include--- Financial Risk Management, Investments, Risk Assessment and Allocation Management and so on. He holds diverse positions in his portfolio in Risk Consultancy, Quantitative Strategies and Risk Modeling. In his lecture Professor Ashe talked about his experience in the industry and emphasized on building new tools for trade. He shared his experience as a risk analyst and academician. He also talked about the need for Quantative Analysis and importance of good statisticians in the society. He explained in detail some of the important concepts in Insurance and Risk Management. On risk he said, People are the main risk for Insurance Company. He also talked about steps taken in Risk Management like Identification of Risk, Evaluation, Measurement and Management. Cutting across the cultures, we are fundamentally the same, he further added. Among other things of prime importance, he said that the need of the hour is to collect the sufficient data and interpret it well. The problem lies in collecting data and communicating it well. People deliberately use figures for the purpose that serves them; sometimes the figures are exaggerated to the level which is ethically very wrong. Prof. H.J. Vaman, senior faculty, Department of Statistics and OSD Academics, Central University of Rajasthan, presented the vote of thanks to the guest lecturer, dignitaries and other participants. Prof. R.N.
