As with other A AutoCAD based products, you can launch P&ID from either the de m esktop icon or from the pro ograms st menu. Th will invoke AutoCAD in the P&ID wo tart his e orkspace. The environmen should be fa e nt amiliar as it is s le everaging stan ndard AutoCA AD. The mos important elements of P& workspac to become familiar with are the st &ID ce e P&ID workspac toolbar, the tool palette and the Project Manager. ce

Creating a project
In Plant P&ID 2008 you will create P&ID in a projec environmen This is an administrativ task not typ D Ds ct nt. ve pically done by all users, but for the sake of fa t amiliarity with the concepts of the projec environmen we will crea a new s ct nt ate project with fo olders and su ubfolders.

Prim mary lines We will now add primary and seco w ondary lines to connect the equipm ment we just placed. Th t he direction of flow for the lines will b determined by the direction you create the lines. If ne f e be u ecessary, the direction can be ch hanged. Add instrumen d nts As you prob bably know, instrument tation is ver often connected to co ry ontrol valve and/or other es regulating inline compo onents.
