the following query items to the list Sales territory,staffcode,productline,gross profit Create a group on sales territory and staff code Slect grossprofit from datamenu select aggregate click on total From cognos8 homepage,select IBM COGNOS ADMINISTRATION SELECT SECURITY TAB SELECT COGNOS NAME SPACE FROM CONSUMERGROUP SELECT SET PROPERTIES FROM ACTION MENU,SELECT VIEW THE SEARCH PATH,ID AND URL SELECT CAMID(CONSUMER) MAKE COPY FROM EXPLORER BAR, SELECT QUERY EXPLORE SELEC THE QUERY 1 FROM TOOLBOX,DRAG THE DATA ITEM,DROP ON DATA ITEMS PANE COPY THE CAMID IN EXPLORER DEFINITION WINDOW WITH IN THE SINGLE QUOTES CAMID(:consumer) Ok Rename the data item as burst recipient File menu select burst options Select make report available for bursting From burst group area from list select query 1 From label select sales territory From groups select edit Frokm data items double click on sales territory Click ok From burst recipient area, select the qauery 1 from the list Select the data item burst recipient Select the data item burst recipient Select the type directory entry Ok Save the report To make report available for bursting We can run the report in a background process using congos connection From home page select ibm cognos content

Browse to the location where the report is saved For a burst report from actions menu click on run with option Select advanced option From time and mode Run in the background From bursting select Burst the report Clik on run Click ok
