MY FAVOURITE SUBJECT

Since I have attended Liceo Classico, my favourite subject is Latin.

What I like most about this subject is the cultural aspect. Everybody knows how important the Romans have been in European history, and their language was known by so many populations.

Nouns and adjectives are declined in different cases, and verbs are divided into five conjugations. It is a very scientific language, with lots of rules and exceptions, but they aren't difficult and once you learn the logic, you can't find any problem.

Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Romanian and Catalan are the Neo-Latin languages, because they derive directly from Latin. In these languages, most of the words are very similiar to the Latin ones, and also the grammatical structures are almost the same.

Although Latin is called a dead language, it still lives in modern languages, and it helps you to understand them better. It's no wonder it is my favourite subject!
